Michigan Tech Forest Resources and Environmental Science: Teaching Assistant for Vegetation of North America: Responsible for teaching and grading a 4 hour lab in identifying and learning tree, shrub, and herbaceous plant characteristics, also guest lecturing during class time on topics with experience

Great Explorations, Baraga Houghton Keweenaw School System:  after school Tutoring and Instructor: January 2006 – present: Working with k-5 elementary school children, tutoring in math, science, other curriculum, aid in instructing classes for after school program, creating lesson plans and teaching of after school class in outdoors sciences

Texas Forest Service:  Forest Inventory and Analysis Forester

May 2004 –May 2005: Extensive mapping experience, data collection, vegetation identification and aerial photography orienteering, communication with landowners and supervision of the FIA office and technician in Palestine, TX

Research Experience

Michigan Technological University: May 2005-present: Masters research for phloem modeling in ash trees to reduce population density of emerald ash borer.

Also assisted in multiple research projects of colleagues including monitoring rural ash tree health, evaluating multiple insect trap designs for emerald ash borer, and checking trap trees for emerald ash borer

Purdue University: May 2002-Sept.2002: Graduate Research Assistant to map and collect data (identifying all plants) for an ecoclassification guide to woodland habitat in northeastern Indiana

Purdue University: March 2002: Graduate Research assistant, Hardwood Tree Improvement and Regeneration Center, measuring tree seedlings to be planted for silvicultural research

Notre Dame University:  August 1999- May 2000: Lab technician in the Insect Vector Laboratory working with DNA markers in mosquitoes and vector biology
